BACKSTORY

THE COUP

The citizens of Buckministan live under the iron grip of their brutal dictator, Generalissimo Buckmaster, who seized power during a military coup in July of 2016, and for whom the state was renamed after. A charismatic leader and brilliant military strategist, the Generalissimo quickly turned the country from a failing, corporate-capitalist democracy, into the harsh, quasi-fascist dictatorship that we know today, through a series of controversial reforms such as restricting voting rights, compulsory military service, and ending nearly all government aid projects. Hailed by some as a savior, doing what is necessary to rid the country of the corruption that has plagued its politics for decades, and others as nothing more than a self-serving tyrant, hell bent on consolidating power for personal gain, his regime makes zero attempt to hide the brutality used to quell dissent. One thing is clear, hero or villain, under Generalissimo Buckmaster's rule, the country will likely remain in a tumultuous state for some time.

THE BRIGADE

The Blue Brigade was formed in the aftermath of Generalissimo Buckmaster's coup as a specialized policing unit to keep a lid on rebellious elements in the population. As Buckmaster's regime continued to implement more controversial policies and harsher penalties for refusing to follow those policies, dissent among the civilian population fermented and rebel factions formed, taking ever more aggressive actions against the state. Predictably, this resulted in the Brigade ballooning in size and funding. This back and forth continued for years until the rebel factions consolidated into the Red Rebellion after the failed attempt on the dictator's life in May of 2018, declaring an open state of civil war in the country. Today, the Blue Brigade is a fully-equipped and well-trained, veteran military organization that is given broad license on how it's commanders choose to eliminate the Rebellion forces in the country. Secret police, illegal wire tapping, summary judgements and public executions are common.

THE 1st BATTALION

The 1st Battalion, 1st regiment, is the oldest, most decorated unit in the Brigade, famed for the elimination of the Black Sands faction of rebels, led by Khasim Ludinev, an early rebel faction who were responsible for the first organized attempt on Generalissimo Buckmaster's life, and who would later regroup under the flag of the Red Rebellion. Currently stationed in the Katana District of Buckministan's former (now destroyed) commerce sector, the 1st Battalion has been in a near constant state of combat since the Red Rebellion attempted to take the sector in May of 2019. The territory has changed hands multiple times during the conflict, with casualties continuing to mount on both sides.

YOUR UNIT

Your unit, Fox company, 4th platoon is tasked with pacifying the the northern portion of Katana district (formerly the capital's commerce sector). The area is active with rebel forces and deemed a free fire zone, but, despite almost zero remaining infrastructure and daily firefights, it is still populated. Locals there are armed, with varying allegiances. Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.

SECURING A CIVILIAN & THEIR HOME:

When entering and securing a civilian's home, follow these steps to avoid Bad Shoots. Reminder, armed civilians in public can be shot on sight for no penalty. Civilians inside their homes are allowed to be armed provided they surrender immediately to a properly announced faction player.

disarming.jpg

Announce Yourself:

Yell "Red Rebellion" repeatedly, loudly, as you move from room to room inside civilian homes. This will protect you from "Bad Shoots" should an armed, non-threat civilian get killed. If they don't hear it, it doesn't count and you'll be docked points.

Surrendered Civilians:

If a civilian does not immediately surrender, they are deemed hostile and can be eliminated without penalty, but avoid disputes by giving them sufficient time to surrender. Remember, THEY score it.

ARRESTING A CIVILIAN:

If you suspect a civilian to have information of value, you can detain them and bring them to the Detainee Facility for Interrogation.

detainee facility .jpg

The Detainee Facility:

Should a civilian be of high enough value to require further questioning, they may be taken to the Detainee Facility to be held or interrogated. All Civilians held in the Detainment Facility are released at the end of the current game. Before they enter, if armed, they need to be disarmed with their weapons placed on the table outside the Facility. These weapons are in play if the civilian manages to escape.

Bad Shoots are fucking expensive!
Watch your fire!
KILLING A CIVILIAN:

This is a cheat sheet on when the use of deadly force is authorized on Civilians.

disarming_edited.jpg

Good Shoot:

If they don't immediately surrender to any properly announced faction player that has entered their home.

Bad Shoot:

If they are unarmed or, if armed, you have not properly announced yourself while moving room to room inside their home prior to killing them.
